saved this photo with only Lightroom cc!

I am super grateful to be shooting weddings in a day and age where post production can help turn an image that I personally goofed on the settings from unusable to being able to be printed and hung on the couple's wall.

The images below were shot on a Canon 1DX with Canon's 35mm 1.4 prime lens at 1/100, f3.2 and ISO 2000. As you can tell the sun was already beyond setting and passing the horizon. I had to work fast to take this shot because the wedding planner at the venue was rushing them to start their grand march and was nagging me to hurry. So I fired off a shot or 2 and rushed inside to get ready. I got home and looked at this image and thought that it was a wasted attempt. But with a little bit of Adobe Lightroom magic, voila! An image to be proud of.

With a little bit of tender love and care (warmth, brightness and saturation) I got an image that I messed up on turn into something the couple can adore for the rest of their lives. What I learned from this is that you should never delete and always keep the images in your camera. With CF and SD cards being easily accessible and fairly priced why not just keep a small 20MB file and see if it's worth the trouble fixing. Another image saved by Adobe, and I am sure it won't be the last.

Kenneth Whalum for Stature Life

I got a chance to shoot an editorial of Kenneth Whalum for Stature Life, Stature Life is a lifestyle brand dedicated to the interest of black men. They are a website that delves into the Black Male culture through Fashion, News, Music and Lifestyle.

Kenneth Whalum was the artist that I got to meet and photograph. He got to work with the likes of Jay-Z, Beyonce and Frank Ocean. He is a very down to earth dude with soulful musical talent. Click Here to read the full interview.

I Photographed a Whole Wedding with Canon's 50mm 1.8!

Before you get mad and say "WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?! YOU TOOK MONEY FROM THIS COUPLE AND SHOT IT ON A CHEAP @$$ LENS?!"

Well actually I just tagged along and second shot/shadowed the main photographer.

I have always wanted to show people that gear doesn't matter and this is a great case to show you guys. Granted the camera body is that of a Canon 1DX but still, people always rave about having all types of glass for certain situations.

So yeah, I shot this whole wedding from front to back with just 1 focal length and 1 camera body, everything from the getting ready photos to the dancing at the reception. It was definitely a challenge to say the least.

Shooting at 1 focal length alone was already a hill that needed a lot of climbing. I had to get proper angles, position myself perfectly to have enough distance between myself and the subject and lets not forget about the tracking and slow focusing. But, as the day went on I got more and more comfortable with this 1 lens. It pushed me to step outside of my comfort zone of having a wide spectrum of lenses. The lens may only be ~100 bucks but the images are definitely worth more than that. Take a look at the photos below and let me know what you think.
